Canon MG5500 prints but no ink shows on the page - there is plenty of ink in the cartridges

My Caon MG5500 has been working fine today but now when it prints no ink is on the page but there is plenty of ink in the cartridges - please help!

Try a nozzle check to see if no ink at all is being deposited on the page, or if it is just the black ink. Then try cleaning the printhead. If that doesn't do it you can reseat the printhead. the links below will help.
