Is there a way to get around the no scan issue and continue scanning to my computer until I can purchase ink replacement?

Hi Hogue,
All of the ink tanks will need to be installed in the printer in order for you to scan, even if they are low or out of ink; however, you may be able to scan under a low or out of ink condition by disabling the ink level detection function of the printer. To do this, please press and hold down the STOP/RESET or RESUME/CANCEL button on the printer for at least 5 seconds, then release it. You will need to do this process for each ink tank that is low or out of ink. Once you replace the ink(s) with Canon genuine inks, the ink level detection function of the printer will be re-enabled.
If you still are unable to scan after performing the procedure above, the out of ink tank(s) will need to be replaced prior to scanning.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for being active in our community. We are happy to share that it is possible to scan with an empty ink tank or cartridge. To start scanning follow the instructions at the link here: https://canon.us/pixma
