Some time ago, I had problems with my pc (windows) that when I turned it on with the ethernet cable connected, the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection of my house was turned off (ethernet and 5GHz keep working). This day I found out that it was due to the canon EOS utility program. When I tried to connect my EOS 70 D camera to the Wi-Fi, when I opened the Wi-Fi/Lan connection option on the computer, the Wi-Fi network would drop. If I close the program (including the background icon) the Wi-Fi connection is reestablished for all the devices in my network, which are about 7. And here I want to leave some tips for using your computer if someone has the same problem. Disconnect the network cable from the computer, turn it on, load all the editing programs, web browser, etc. that you are going to use (it will take you about 3 minutes) and then connect the network cable and finally you can connect the USB cable to the camera, or turn on the camera if it was previously connected. The EOS Utility will open without any problems and the Wi-Fi connection will not be lost. I have not found a way to be able to connect my camera to the computer once it is already turned on and the EOS utility already made the Wi-Fi connection error.
Although this is an effective solution, I would like to be able to connect via Wi-Fi to my camera, which so far is impossible and here I will leave more data about problems I have when using this tool.
First, EOS utility version 3 is not compatible with any of my cameras, the canon Rebel t5i, the EOS 70D and the 700D I guess it will be the same with other older models like the canon rebel t6, so I use the eos utility version 2 installer to recognize the cameras. All of them connect via USB without problems. I have tested the same program from the same installer on 3 different computers, one has windows 11 and two have windows 10. Only the desktop computer (windows 10) causes the loss of Wi-Fi connection. The desktop has an AMD Ryzen 7 5700g processor. The other two are intel-based laptops (2014 and 2023) and whether I connect them to the camera via cable or Wi-Fi, they do not cause the error. I would like to point out that when I opened the program on the other two computers, and I clicked on the option to connect via Wi-Fi/Lan, I got a pop-up window to make changes in the windows firewall, on the desktop computer, even though I reinstalled the program, I did not get the message, or I don't remember if it appeared the first time(2yrs ago). I have verified that all devices on the network have automatic ip assignment by the router. as I said before, the connection is re-established on all devices once I close the program and it is not necessary to shut down the computer.
I hope someone has the solution, best regards to all.
