Hi folks,
Sorry to ask a couple of questions all at once.
I picked up a HDMI to USB video intake capture card for the Canon Vixia HF R800.
I was somewhat amazed to see that it actually worked out of the box! I use Ubuntu Linux and it nevertheless captures the camera perfetly into OBS Studio.
The only problem I've seen so far is that I get "auto power off" flashing on the monitor which of course makes it through to the feed. I have that setting configured so that I'll be able to "set and forget" the webcam on a tripod and have it running on mains power.
Is there any way to forcibly disable this periodic blinking notification?

Not sure what you mean by "I have that setting configured" ? If you turn off 'Auto Power Off' in the System Setup menu then you won't get the blinking notification, obviously.

"Auto power off" periodically flashing doesn't mean "auto power off is off".
It's intended to mean the exact opposite: auto power off is active.
Disabled the functionality and now all is well.
(Thought it was a default power management preservation feature that I had intentionally disabled but apparently not)

Exactly. It's notifying you that the camcorder is about to (auto) power off.
