I purchased a Canon XA11 and I purchased a Saramonic VMic Mini hooked it all up for church service today and did my recording and there was no sound.  I went into the menu to adjust the mic, but something is not working  I am using the XLR connections.  Can someone tell me what i am doing wrong.  I have tried everything.  Thank you

I think this post is relevant for you.  Basically you need a power mic or a mic that can accept phantom power.  The VMic Mini is a passive mic and won't work as you expect on the XA11.

Via 1/8" mic port: needs to be powered mic, i.e. Rode VideoMic NTG (battery powered)

VIA XLR, either powered or be able to accept phantom power, i.e. RODE NTG1 shotgun mic
