Stumped trying to transfer still photos from VIXIA HF G20 to Mac

I cannot figure out how to get the still images from the videocamera to the computer. They don't seem to exist in the AVCHD file; Image Capture doesn't see them; Photos doesn't either. Any help much appreciated and sorry if this has been answered—I searched here and more broadly.

Figured it out with a card reader buried at the very bottom of the deepest drawer. 🙄
