how do i pause recording so i have one video for different scenes, not small ones on Canon XA25

I found this information in the manual.  There are at least two ways to "pause" a recording. 

The onboard buttons seem to actually "stop" when the unit is in recording mode.  The remote seems like it could perform an actual "pause" in the recording, though.
