Canon Vixia HF G20 Low light

What are my best settings on the HF G20 for filming in a small theatre with black walls and ceiling without getting a lot of pixelation/noise in the dark areas?

Hi Gatorstudio,

Thanks for posting.

I recommend framing the screen as tightly as possible, then exposing for the stage, exclusively. You can lower the gain (ISO) to reduce noise, but I don't recommend that at the expense of the onstage action.

Thank you

I shoot in low light all the time. I set the camera to Aperture Priority and go from there. Bring down as low as needed, I set it to 2.8. I shoot 1080, 60i but if you are still getting noise you can go to 30fps to let in more light. I shoot at clubs and festivals.

Thank you.  I'll give that a try.
