Can someone from Canon please explain WHY Canon Webcam Utility Pro is not available outside the US? WHY, not just some rehash of the fact that it isn't. Tell us WHY! If Canon doesn't have a simple answer to hand then maybe the current strategy is not the right one. Why bother having a forum like this if you're just going to repeat corporate policy?

Hello!

I'm from Poland and I want to use my Canon EOS 6D MKII for streaming in the internet. I found out about Canon Webcam Utility Pro which could help me to have clean video footages for my OBS software. As I readed on your official website in the USA this software is exclusivly available only for customers from USA. Could you let me know when it would be available for other users? For now I have Canon Webcam Utility free but I need full HD for my streams. Thank you.

I would love to buy subscription and use your software.

Hi! We here at Canon USA only have information for products available here in the United States. If you're in Poland, we recommend reaching out to our colleagues at Canon Poland. They've got a page dedicated to EOS Webcam Utility right HERE.

Hope this helps!

Yes, I talked with them. But they have only Canon Webcam Utility. This is free version with lower resolution. As I know only Canon Webcam Utility Pro gives full res and additional options. The costs of this software is 49$ per year in subscription plan. Could I buy or test this version in Europe?

You can use whatever versions that are licensed to be available in Europe. If Canon Europe only has the free version, then that's the only version available at this time.

I'd also like to see this available in Canada. There's no other way I've found to make this happen than by the collective of people who will inevitably reply to this forum to request their own local service. If it's not recorded somewhere, the amount of requests, it carries less weight than single requests that get lost in their "closed tickets". This coming from a business perspective.

Unless you have a newer camera that supports UVC/UAC protocol, you'll need to use Cam Link. The problem is that, when you use Cam Link you'll see the auto-focus box. The only way you can hide the AF box is to have a newer camera that offers this feature and those new cameras will like have UVC/UAC protocol. Which makes it redundant.

In my case, my T6I doesn't have the option to hide the AF box so I can never get rid of it when using Cam Link. My 5D Mark iii however does have that option, though it doesn't have Continual AF so I can't keep the **bleep** thing focused when I'm making vlogging without holding the shutter button down continually. So you could argue that this camera is just not meant for task, which is half true. So as of now, I have no way to broadcast 1080p. Canon Webcam Utility only offers 576p.

The only option I have is to purchase a new camera. Good game Canon, Good game.

Thanks for the update, Kristoff. I'm sure you're restricted on what you can say here but it's 2023 and this kind of corporate comms 'this is our current policy' response doesn't really fly these days. It just tends to annoy people. Of course, we recognise that different products are available in different regions and at different prices. However, in this case, all customers are asking for is a clear statement from Canon as to why this product is only currently available in the US region. This product fits my needs perfectly and it is extremely irritating that there is no APPARENT reason why it couldn't be made available globally or at least in other large markets like EU/UK. Maybe there is a reason. For example, it isn't deemed profitable (which seems unlikely) or there are legal reasons (also extremely unlikely). Even if it's the case that Canon just doesn't want to expand availability and has no plans to, please just say so and we can all move on. There must be someone at Canon who knows this information - I'd be very worried if there wasn't.

Perhaps Rick, but that's my point, Canon hasn't made this clear. In any case, would there be anything stopping a US-based user, from operating the software while temporarily in the EU or UK for example? I can't imagine so. It's true that, in general, consumer law is more restrictive in the EU but Webcam Utility Pro only emulates roughly the same functionality as Blackmagic's ATEM ecosystem, which is readily available outside the US. I've always found this aspect of Canon confusing - on the one hand, they produce amazing, complex products like the R7 and on the other hand, they can't answer a simple question on a dedicated forum.

Canon website says "Utility Pro software will be available for use in Europe Middle East and Asia on May 29th 2025." However, I tested it, it doesn't work, and Canon support answered my email saying "it's not available in Europe." I specifically asked "why" and they simply said (paraphrasing here): because it isn't.

The software identifies your camera by serial number. If that camera was sold outside of the USA, the software won't register your camera.

So the only solution is to sell your European camera body and buy one from the USA. Obviously a huge pain in the ass. I'm also frustrated that they won't explain why, especially when their own website says it should be working now.

That may not be enough. Software licensing can be controlled by geographic region, IP address, etc. Even putting yourself behind a VPN might not be enough.

Hi, it is supposed to work now. This page tells us all the countries it's available in. Unfortunately, it's not true.

There is a workaround. You have to enter the serial number from a camera sold in the USA. Notice I didn't say you have to have a camera sold in the USA. You just need the serial number for a camera sold in the USA. I tried it, it works. The software is pretty difficult to use, but it works. If you have any problems just call Canon support.
