topic Slack doesn't seem to work with EOS Webcam Utility in EOS Webcam Utility Pro - Discussions

Hey everyone.
I can't ever seem to get my camera to work with Slack's video conferencing.

Slack sees the EOS Webcam Utility as an input, and I can select it.
However NO VIDEO content is transmitted. All I see is a black screen with a cute aperture design and white text saying "EOS Webcam Utility."

So it seems to me that as far as Slack knows, it's getting a signal. But that signal is kind of useless. There doesn't seem to be any setting in Slack I can change because Slack thinks everything is fine.

Any ideas?

FYI, this setup seems to work with Zoom just fine.

I'm running:
MacBook Air M2 2022
macOS Ventura 13.4
EOS Webcam Utility Pro 2.0.30
Canon EOS 5DMKIV (firmware 1.4.0) - connected via USB.

SOLVED.

Whoa. The fix for this is bizarre.
When I found the solution online I didn't believe it. But I tried it, and everything is working fine now.

Apparently the EOS Webcam Utility does not work with Slack if you downloaded Slack through the Apple App Store.
To fix this, delete the Slack app.
Download Slack from the company's own website, place in your applications folder and voilà.

Hopefully this will work for you as well as it did for me!
