I just downloaded the software. Set it up as instructed. I connect my camera and try to add it as a video capture device and it keeps giving me a "Add source failed" error. Not only that, but the preview is just the black screen with the "EOS WEBCAM UTILITY" title in it. My camera is set to video mode. The resolution is set to the correct resolution. I don't have any other software open that could be conflicting with the webcam utility. My camera's wifi capability is turned off. My PC sees and recognizes my camera correctly (I checked in device manager). I am running windows 10. What's wrong with this software and why isn't it allowing me to add my camera as a capture device and not even showing me a preview in the "default" scene?

Hi raainley,

The EOS Webcam Utility should automatically detect your Canon camera. You shouldn't need to add it as a capture device. It looks like you already tried some of the things we would recommend for an issue like this. Another thing to double check is the firmware version installed on your camera. If it is running an older version that would prevent the software and camera from connecting correctly. The current firmware version for the EOS 6D Mark II is 1.2.0. If you need to update your camera's firmware the current version is available on the product page HERE. Instructions on how to do the update are included in the downloaded file.

Another thing to double check is the cable type you are using. I do not see it listed in your post, so it would be good check it is the correct type. The EOS 6D Mark II uses a Mini-B to Type-A USB cable that connects directly from the camera to a USB port on the computer. If a different cable type is being used, or if there is a secondary device in the connection between the camera and computer, that could cause issues like this as well.

One last thing to check is what screen is showing on the camera when you connect the camera and computer? If the camera is detecting it is connected to a computer it should show a computer icon on the rear LCD.
