You can connect the EOS Rebel T7 to a computer using EOS Utility if you connect with a USB cable between the camera and the computer. It won't work with WiFi even though the camera has WiFi it does not support EOS Utility over WiFi.

Check page 317 of the PDF manual for the details.

I just bought a Canon EOS T7i so I could take product pictures. I bought it specificially for the wifi feature so I could send the photos to my desktop without a cable (I am taking pictures within proximity of the computer).

Turns out, I need a subscription for the EOD Webcam Utility Pro to do that, and not only that, when I tried to sign up for the subscription, I was forced to go through several minutes of captcha (identify the bicycle, identify the traffic light, identify this bus, identify the crosswalk, ad nauseum). I eventually gave up and apparently will not be able to use this camera for its intended purpose (which was sending pictures straight to my desktop computer).

First off, whose bright idea was it to lock a $600 camera's main function behind a paywall in the first place?

Second, why so many captchas? This is infuriating as a customer.

Be careful with the software you choose, Canon has two software applications:

EOS Webcam Utility Pro

EOS Utility

EOS Webcam Utility Pro

This app allows you to use a camera as a webcam with software like Zoom, Teams etc. It is a paid for app.

EOS Utility

This is a free to download and use app that allows you to remote control your camera, do some camera configuration and automatically transfer images to your computer even while you shoot. You can download EOS Utility for free from the Canon website.

Your EOS T7i works with both software apps. You need to use EOS Utility not EOS Webcam Utility. I have used EOS Utility for many years with Canon EOS cameras using both USB connections and WiFi when the camera provides WiFi. For the best most straightforward reliable WiFi connection it is better to have a router or some other device to provide the WiFi and then connect the computer and camera to that network. However you can also use the camera to create the network hotspot and connect the computer to that.

Thanks for the nice reply. It turns out I have a T7 and not a T7i.

Does the T7 have the ability to connect to a computer? Because I'm not seeing that. The documentation says it should, but I can find no instructions that actually work.
