When you say that the EOS Utility for downloading files works, I assume that you are using the same USB cable for the Webcam Utility. So, that would suggest your cable and USB ports are working properly.

Your issue seems to be one of configuration. What installation and setup instructions are you following? The Webcam Utility is a device driver, which means it does not launch a window when it starts up like the EOS Utility. It runs in the background, just like the device driver for webcam that is built into a laptop.

The EOS Utility and the Webcam Utility cannot be running at the same time. It has to be one or the other. If the EOS Utility opens up after you connect via USB and turn on the camera, you need to close the EOS Utility.

Next, you need to disable or shutdown the EOS Utility Launcher Service. You should see what looks like a camera icon in the System Tray in the row of icons near the System Clock. Right click on the camera icon, and select “Exit”.

The next time you turn on your camera it should work as a webcam via the USB cable.

Greetings mudauu260899,

I agree with the information that Waddizzle has provided and to recommend on following their steps.

If the red "X" with a symbol of a white USB cable is appearing on the video conferencing software when trying to use the EOS Webcam Utility with your camera, then it may be an issue with the USB connection between the camera and your computer. Please check that your camera’s USB cable is properly connected both the camera-side and the computer. I would also suggest checking the battery or power adapter that provides power to the camera. Let's also make sure that your camera is powered on.

We would recommend connecting the camera directly to the USB port on your computer in case you are using a USB hub where different devices connect to the computer. If possible, try testing a different USB cable and a different USB port on the computer. I would also suggest testing the EOS Webcam Utility on a different computer.

If you're seeing an icon of a white camera with a red triangle, then it means that the camera's LiveView function and video signal is being used by another application or software.

We would recommend exiting and close any applications that may be running on your computer, or in your task tray that may be connected to your camera or using the camera’s LiveView video signal. For example: Canon's EOS Utility or an application connected to the camera like another video conferencing app.

Honestly, I really don't understand why this has to be so complicated.
Why do I have to learn how to use the command line in order to stop the webcam utility from running and restarting in order to use my camera in live view?!

There should an easy and straightforward way to switch between webcam & live view mode. It makes me mad how much time this is taking me.

@CANON Please do something about this.
Also, the fact that I can't have Google Drive running while using your software is ridiculous.
We all know there must be a better way.

In my case it does not work at all. Even having switched off the EOS Utility. I tried on OBS in two laptops and on Streamlabs. It still does not recognize the camera. Here you can see my settings for OBS. Maybe someone could help me, because I would like to use the Canon EOS 2000D for recording videos through Streamlabs or OBS and for streaming if possible.

Greetings Antonio2011,

Check to see if there are any other applications that may be attempting to communicate with the camera. This may prevent the EOS Webcam Utility from detecting the camera. When using the latest version of the EOS Webcam Utility, check to see if the utility itself is able to see a live image from the EOS 2000D.

On the camera, please check and ensure that Wi-Fi is disabled. Leaving it enabled, even when it is not currently in use, will disable the USB port on the camera. If possible, please test a different USB cable. Ensure that there is a memory card inside the camera, and that the camera is in the video shooting mode.

Greetings zfly9,

You may set the Mode Dial to Scene Intelligent Auto (A+), but more importantly, set the power switch to the video shooting mode and not the photo taking mode. I would suggest on double-checking to ensure that the camera's Wi-Fi function is disabled prior to connecting the USB cable to the camera.

In case there is not memory card inside the camera, then let's test to see if inserting a memory card will help resolve this issue. You may also test to see if the camera can function as a webcam when it is connected to a different computer. This will help to determine if there is an issue with the computer you are trying to use the camera with.

So I had a similar issue but with a Mac. What I did was go into the settings to tweak the configuration. Just to forced a system calibration.

I restarted my PC to avoid the two software running.
Then open the webcam app and then played with the setting.

From there reset the app and open it up and it should auto detect, if not go up into the windows option and redirect the camera setting.

Assuming that you already have the base camera software installed.
