Looking back over my post, I just feel the need to clarify:

A v90 card doesn't require a UHS-II interface. It should work in any camera with an SD slot. However, it needs UHS-II to work at full speed.

If your camera doesn't have UHS, then it will fall back to a slower speed; in other words it will work, but it won't be v90 any more.

Hello everyone,

Sorry if this is a basic question - I'm a beginner!

I have V90 SD cards and was wondering if I can shoot 4K on the MK II?

I know I would need CFast cards to shoot RAW, but I'm not looking to do that right now.

Would these SD cards be enough? Or would I only be able to record proxies on them?

Thank you very much!

I don't have that camera, so I don't know, but I think you're out of luck. A v90 card would (I think) require a UHS-II interface, and I'm pretty sure that camera pre-dates UHS-II. In fact it probably pre-dates UHS altogether.

In fact the camera specs specifically say

Recording format: SD Card -- Movies: Long GOP recording only (*) -- (*) Proxy recording using low bit rate

See https://www.canon.co.uk/for_home/product_finder/digital_cinema/cinema_eos_cameras/eos_c300_mark_ii/specifications/

The bottom line is that a v90 card can record 90 MB/s -- that is, Mega Bytes per second, which is (multiply by eight) 720 Mb/s -- that is, Mega bits per second. But only if the camera itself also supports this, and it looks like your camera does not when recording to SD card.

Bit rates and stuff can be pretty bamboozling for non-techie people, so I made a video about it, which may help:

https://moonblink.info/MudLake/tech#BitRates

The other videos on that page may be useful too.
