Canon does not sell directly on Amazon.

If you purchased the batteries on Amazon, it is their responsibility to honor their return policy. Had you made the purchase on our site at https://usa.canon.com, you would be covered by our return policy.

You can learn about the Canon USA return policy HERE.

Genuine Canon batteries do have a warranty; however, our team would have to verify that the batteries are authentic and within the warranty period before they could replace them under the warranty.

You can reach out to support for assistance with this. Support is at 800-OK-CANON (800-652-2666).

I have an old Vixia HG21 that works great. I ordered two extra batteries BP-828. I already have two of these. I wanted to get two new ones as the others are getting old. They still work well. The two I bought were from Amazon. When I received the first thing I noticed was they had zero charge. I put one in the camera and one in the wall charger and both started rapid flashing indicating bad batteries. Contacted Amazon and they said contact Canon. I managed to talk to a rep and he was useless. My camera is obsolete so they will not warranty the batteries. They sell cameras that still use BP-828 batteries but that did not matter. I am out $300. Last time I ever do business with Canon.

Hello HJA,

Thank you for reaching out!

If your camera is the VIXIA HG21, it has been retired. As a result, all official Canon support has ceased. We no longer perform repairs or have parts for that unit.

To explore Canon's latest technologies, we recommend contacting our Canon Upgrade Program Specialists at 1-866-443-8002, available Monday through Friday.

The camera is fine. Works great. It's the brand new batteries I bought that do not work. So you are saying because I have an older camera you will not warranty new batteries that will not charge????? I have already filed complaints at BBB. In process with FTC. Canon will be notified.

No need. I bought a Watsom BP828 with a charger. Charged all the batteries with no problems. Even after charging the Canon charger flashes bad batteries. Tried them all in the camera and they all worked fine. Canon charger went in the trash.
