Pocket Wizard multi speedlite setup ( 580exii and 580 ex )

PocketWizard plus ii tranceiver on the canon eos 5d mark ii hot shoe.

PocketWizard plus ii receiver connected to 580ex ii speedlite.

The 580 exii fires perfectly from anywhere in the room.

The problem comes when I bring in another speedlite ( 580 ex ).

this uniit has no connector for another pocke wizard so it has to

rely on the optic signal from the 580exii. The second lite does fire

but very late.

The pocket wizard factory service says I should buy another device from them.

but is there a way to solve this problem without buying more gear? and just

changing menu settings?

The Canon optical slave system is very proprietary and not compatible with other systems.

The Pocket Wizard Factory Service Rep is correct. There is no other way to make your extra 580EX operate the way you want. It must have it's own receiver.
