Hi @nagelxj welcome to the forums. Yes it is fully COMPATIBLE with your camera. Note the Ring Flash is NOT COMPATIBLE with the in camera flash menu. The camera can display basic settings of the flash but nothing else can be changed. EXCEPT for Flash Exposure Compensation (FEC). This can be changed as long as its not already set on the ring flash. Items in the camera menu will be grayed out or missing. Certain setting changes will need to be done directly on the flash itself. The camera menu will reflect those changes. It will be grayed out and can't be changed from the camera menu. The ring flash will NOT fire if the shutter mode is set to Fully electronic. It will fire with Electronic First Curtain or Full Mechanical shutter.

The 24 has mixed reviews on full compatibility with ETTL-II, modern camera menus and connection to the MFS. An adapter might be required.

Its manual states compatibility with Type-A EOS cameras (E-TTL II/E-TTL autoflash) which is what the R6 mkII has, but I might not trust it will mount, integrate and connect properly.

I would suggest going with the MT-26 EX twin lite.

You can always call Canon Support to confirm. 1-800-652-2666

E-TTL II is a camera body upgrade not a flash upgrade. So it doesn’t matter which EX series speedlite is used. Now newer ones can account for stuff such as crop factor. That never existed during the film days. But that wouldn’t apply to Full Frame cameras. Canon kept the MT-24EX in production from 2000-2017. It features a 550EX era flash interface and a high pitch noise is produced when charging. It was one of the longest produced flash products from Canon. It was in serious need of an upgrade from Canon. The MT-26EX-RT features a 600EX series flash interface. It also provides camera menu support too.

Thanks, I had a MT-24 for years, sold all my gear (cameras, strobes, macro gear, backdrops, etc) about 5 years ago. but now my son is getting into it in high school. Bought him an r6 Mii and wanted to introduce him to Macro. I can get a MT-24 for $225 vs $1300 for a new MT26. I loved my MT24.

Make sure you get the proper adapter rings if then lens needs it. If you look into the EF or RF 100mm F/2.8L Macro IS USM lens it requires the Macro Lite 67C adapter. The older EF L version requires it too. Also the EF 180mm F/3.5L Macro USM lens needs the Macro Lite 72C adapter. Other macro lenses have a mounting ring built in and it’s a 58mm thread. Canon has been moving to a wider mounting ring on newer lenses. But the Macro Lite was designed for those older lenses in mind. The newer L lenses didn’t exist when the Macro Lite was released. Except for the 180mm Macro.
