Greetings,

Your issue may be unrelated, but please review this knowledge base article and see if it applies.

EL-5 Service Notice

How to identify if you own an affected product . If the fourth digit from the left in your serial number is "0" zero, your product is affected.

If your flash simply won't turn on and you have inserted a freshly charged battery of known good quality / health I would recommend sending your flash to Canon for inspection and repair. Start by registering your device in your MyCanon portal then initiate a repair.

I got an EL-5 and I was eager to try it. Turned it on had some fun - but the battery was half way charged, so I took the battery out and charged it in the official charger.

After charging it, putting the battery back in I turned it back on and it won’t turn on at all anymore?

I’m not sure what I can do next, it clearly was working…
