Thank you. I will buy canon speedlite 430ex ii. As I am a beginner and the question will be very unprofessional and incorrect.
When I pop up the built-in camera flash, the camera display is brighter and it looks like is totally different mode and the photos are different/brighter/better look with flash.
Will it be the same when I buy canon speedlite 430ex ii and I activate "External Speedlite Control Menu"? Will the display, photos quality and everything will be the same as I pop out the built in flash?
I hope that makes sense.
Thank you

Your flash system IS NOT COMPATIBLE with the External Speedlite Control Menu. This menu is ONLY compatible with some of Canon's speedlites. Not all of them are compatible but this is true for older speedlites from Canon. These speedlites have been discontinued and replaced by newer models compatible with it.

The 430EX II was the first midrange series compatible with the External Speedlite Control Menu. The External Speedlite Control Menu allows the photographer to control most. If not all speedlite settings from the camera instead of the speedlite's LCD screen if equipped with one. All of Canon's EX and EL-1 and EL-100 speedlites are compatible with your camera. The EL-5 & EL-10 speedlites are only compatible on certain EOS R series cameras. With the new multi function hot shoe. Your camera has the older hot shoe.

Exposure Simulation is DISABLED with flash photography. When the flash is set Auto Mode (E-TTL) the camera controls everything like the built-in flash. The photos will be better quality because the speedlite is more powerful than the built-in flash. Note the Red "IR" AF Assist Beam on the speedlite IS INCOMPATIBLE with mirrorless cameras. The speedlite's AF Assist Beam Automatically switches to Intermittent Flash Firing. The speedlite will pulse rapidly to assist the camera's AF system in low light and or contrast situations. But note depending on the ambient lighting the camera body may project an LED AF Assist Beam. All of Canon's Speedlites with an IR AF Assist Beam will do this even if the speedlite has a personal function between IR & Intermittent Flash Firing.

All Canon speedlites ending with EX in the name is compatible with your camera. Note the 420EX is an older speedlite it has partial compatibility to set 1st/ 2nd (rear) curtain sync and Flash Exposure Compensation (FEC). But other than that it's not fully compatible with the External Speedlite Control. But the speedlite will work just fine. Even though the External Speedlite Control Menu is NOT fully operational. The picture below shows an example of what the External Speedlite Control Menu shows. When the speedlites 220EX, 380EX & 420EX are mounted on the camera. I own the 420EX, 550EX, 470EX-AI & 600EX II-RT. The 420EX lacks an LCD screen and 550EX has an LCD screen with a full set of controls on it. Therefore it being incompatible with the External Speedlite Control Menu. Is not problem because all of the settings in the camera are available on the Speedlite's LCD screen itself. Also the 550EX camera gives you a choice to set FEC (Flash Exposure Compensation) from the camera body or speedlite. Note if set on both the camera and speedlite. The speedlite's settings overrides the camera's setting. Regardless of how much is set on the speedlite or camera.

What mode are you using on the camera. How are you attaching the speedlite. Both the camera and speedlite should be off when attaching. Then turn the speedlite on first next the camera. Have you tried the camera in Auto Mode (A+) to see if it works properly there.

Thank you for your reply!
I use M (1/40 F4.0 ISO100) mode and A+ mode as well.
I just tried to turn the flash on first and then the camera but now every single photo is dark but The Speedlite is flashing. That so so strange.
All battery are brand new.

The flash works differently when the camera is set to M mode. It’s treated as main light instead of Fill Flash. Try the camera in P Mode and see what happens. If it’s still dark make sure Flash Exposure Compensation (FEC) hasn’t been dialed to the minus side. Set it to Zero on both the flash and camera. If it’s still dark you may only be seeing the E-TTL Pre-Flash. Set the camera to Tv Mode and dial a shutter speed of 1/30th sec or slower. Then set the speedlite to 2nd/ Rear Curtain Sync also E-TTL. You should see 2 visible flashes if you only see 1 there’s a problem with the flash.

From the External Speedlite you can set 2nd/ Rear Curtain Sync. Or it can be directly set on the speedlite if you prefer that. My picture below has more choices such as wireless flash photography and FEB (Flash Exposure Bracketing). You can ignore those option as the 430EX II doesn't support firing off camera flashes or Flash Exposure Bracketing (FEB). You should see E-TTL on the LCD screen of the speedlite on the top left side if its set to that. The External Speedlite Control Menu always represents the current status of the speedlite. It will also show E-TTL there too.
