What is the specific issue? Does it power on? What camera and/or trigger are you using to control it? Are you controlling via radio or line-of-sight?

Please, you'll really need to be more specific. How do you have it connected? In the hot shoe? But by the title of your post, you mention "off camera". So are you triggering it via optical line of sight or radio? And with what specific trigger? Again, you need to provide details in order to help you.

So on the camera it won't flash? The confusion is that your thread title says off camera.

Does it flash if you fire the test button? (I.e. separate a flash problem from a camera problem).

I'll ask one last time for details. Now that we know you're using it on-camera, please provide full details of your camera settings related to flash along with what mode you have the flash in (Manual, ETTL, etc.)

If you have the flash physically connected to the camera's hot shoe, it is ON camera. Only when you have the flash not connected to the hot shoe is it considered OFF camera. And off-camera can be controlled in one of many ways to include a sync cable, built-in flash to be an optical trigger, master flash in the hot shoe to be a trigger (optical or radio), or a dedicated radio trigger in the hot shoe such as an ST-E3-RT.

OK, understand.

That is generally called "External Flash" since it is external to the camera. Could be in hot shoe, connected via cable or connected wirelessly.

Didn't see a response to question relative to test button. If you press the test button on flash does it fire?

Do you have access to another camera?

Just trying to separate a flash unit problem from a camera problem.

I don't understand what that means, but since it fires when you press Test it sounds like a camera or camera compatibility issue.

Since that is an older flash unit perhaps you should register your product (if you haven't already done so) on the Canon support site and then request Canon support.
