I have a Speedlite 430EXIII-RT and a T5i. They work great together although I know I'm not using the flash to its full capability.

I am soon getting an EOS R6 Mark II and am confused whether the flash will work without the AD-E1 adaptor. The documentation is vague.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

The AD-E1 adapter is required for the 580EX II, 600EX/600EX-RT, 600EX II-RT, EL-1, ST-E3-RT and OC-E3 for weather sealing other speedlites and accessories don't require it. The 430EX III-RT does NOT require the adapter because the speedlite does NOT have weather sealing. The manual for the R6 Mark II only states speedlites and other accessories with weather sealing requires the AD-E1 adapter.

-Demetrius

EF 16-35mm F/2.8L III USM, EF 24-70mm F/2.8L II USM, EF 28-135mm F/3.5-5.6 IS USM (Retired 8/2007-11/8/2022), EF 50 F/1.8 STM & EF 70-200mm F/2.8L IS III USM

EOS 40D (Retired 8/2007-5/26/2022) & 5D Mark IV

430EX III-RT & 600EX II-RT

How is the 430 ex III working with the R6 mk II? I have the 430 EX II and wasn’t sure if it was too old for the R6 MK II and may lose some functionality, but haven’t come across any information on whether old speed lights still work with the new cameras.
