My CanoScan 4400F will scan some slide holder group of four, 35mm color slides just fine. On another set of four, it won't recognize some that are positioned correctly in the slide holder and will only scan 3 or 2 or 1 depending on the group. The ones that are not recognized have some areas of darkness but others that scan properly, have more areas of darkness.

Scanner Settings: Select Source = Film; Scan Mode = Select all Frames; Image Quality = 300 dpi; Paper Size = 35mm film; Save As Type = JPEG/Exif; Checkbox checked for Save the JPEG/Exif file in Adobe RGB

A second issue that occasionally occurs on some scans; the exposure of all 4 slides scanned seems to be inverted. Areas with more sun exposure scan dark, and vice versa. All settings are as noted above.

Anyone have any thoughts on what might be going on in either of these issues?

Thanks.
