I have recently updated to a new computer with Windows 11. My printer/scanner, a Pixma TR8520, will print but not scan. I have downloaded all the current drivers from the Canon site but the scanner will not work. the printer works fine and the scanner was working up until the time I moved it to the new computer.

Hi Erat,

First, let's reinstall the drivers. Please turn your PIXMA TR8520 off and then follow these steps:

1. On your computer, please press the Windows key on your keyboard and the letter I, then let both go.

2. Click on "Bluetooth & devices" on the left side.

3. On the right side, click on "Printers & scanners".

4. Click on the Canon TR8500 series. In the new window, click "Remove" at the top.

5. Repeat until all TR8500's have been removed from the Printers list.

6. Close the Printers window once complete.

Next, we will download the latest driver:

1. Please click this link: https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/pixma-tr8520#DOWNLOADS

2. Click on Software & Drivers.

3. Choose "Windows" from the Operating System drop down and then "Windows 11" from the Version drop down.

4. Click the Download button to the right of "Print Driver and Scan Utility Installer Ver.1.03 (Windows)". Note: you may have to click the "Load More" button to locate this.

5. Once that file finishes, please open or run that file to begin the installation on your computer. If you have to search for the file first, the files name is: "mpnp-win-tr8500-1_03-ea34_2.exe"

6. Follow the on screen prompts to reinstall. Please do not turn your printer back on until the installation prompts you to.

Once reinstalled, please attempt to scan using the Canon IJ Scan Utility.

Did this answer your question? If so, please click the Accept as Solution button below so that others may find the answer as well.

The first thing you should have asked is "Does this new computer have an ARM/Snapdragon processor?" If it does, the user is stuck, just like the many who have the same issue. Canon doesn't show an ARM-compatible driver.

Why don't you Canon product experts address this in your responses?

This did not solve the problem. I have deleted and downloaded the drivers several times with the same results. While going over the Error Message in detail I changed from the wireless setting to a wired connection and installed the appropriate cable. This seemed to work. I have been able to scan (and print) various items. I will check tomorrow after the computer has been shut down and restarted to see if the setting hold.
