Hi,

please go HERE and download the Windows Registry Tool (file called DR_RegistryFix.exe). This program will check if there are any issues with accessing the ISIS/TWAIN Driver installed on your computer.

You can download the Windows Registry Tool from the same website:
https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/imageformula-r40-office-document-scanner

When the page opens, please click on the SOFTWARE & DRIVERS symbol to the right of the picture of your scanner. Then, make sure that the Operating System and Version under the Downloads section matches the one your computer is running. Below that you will see the first 8 download options for your scanner. There are other options that are not listed, so please scroll down to the bottom of the list and click on the LOAD MORE button.

After clicking on the Load More button, you will find the DR-RegistryFix.exe file at the very end of the list. Please click on the Download button for it. When the file finishes downloading, please open and allow it to run. It will search for problems in the registry that pertain only to the ISIS/TWAIN Driver. If it finds any issues, it will correct the problem and then inform you of the correction. Please restart your computer (turn it off and on) after you close the Windows Registry Tool.

It is best to turn the computer off and on before you attempt to use CaptureOnTouch because any fixes that were made may not be available until the computer has been restarted. Once the computer finishes turning on, please try using CaptureOnTouch again.

If the issue persists, it is recommended that you call our Enterprise & Desktop Solutions Divisions at 1-800-423-2366 Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm ET, excluding holidays.

I recently purchased a new laptop which runs Windows 11. I have attempted to download both the following:

R40_Installer_V1.4.3024.1225_Windows.zip

R40_Driver_V1.3.12410.1001_Windows.zip

Neither have fixed my issue which is the scanner is showing in 'Other Devices' in the Device Manager with a yellow caution sign stating the following:

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There are no compatible drivers for this device.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.

Any assistance?

Hi Patrick_819,

Thank you. At the moment no proprietary Canon specific ARM based windows drivers exist for the Image Formula series. While I think they will eventually be available they are not as of this post. Because of this only native (limited) support is available. You can also check out the NAPS2 driver in the Microsoft store.
