And I'm having the exact same issue. But with a much older DR-C225 scanner. CapureOnTouch worked (as well as can be expected) until a recent Canon software update.

I recently purchased the ImageFormula r40 and ImageFormula r40 the Receipt Edition, installed the software and driver on a Mac running macOS Sequoia (15.5) and was able to scan. I encountered an issue, however, when scanning receipts longer than the legal document size. In CaptureOnTouch, I opened the settings (pencil button), enabled the "Use advanced settings dialog box" and clicked the Settings button. I immediately encountered a "Cannot load driver" error. Because the driver is not loaded, I cannot make any changes on the Advanced Settings

I have had 3 calls with Canon support, scoured the internet and tried an endless number of OS settings changes, but still no luck.

I am using the following software/driver (which installed successfully):

CaptureOnTouch_V.4.15.24.1223_Mac.pkg
R40_Driver_V.1.6.24.0320forMac.pkg

I also tried to install the following:

R40_Installer_V1.4.22.0713_Mac.dmg
R40ReceiptEdition_Installer_V1.7.24.0613_Mac.dmg

These files install both the software and the driver together.

When I open the library folder on the Mac and navigate to the Image Capture folder, I see the Twain Data Sources folder with the R40.ds file. When I view the contents of the file, everything looks good.

On the last call with Canon support, the support representative indicated she should it was a security issue and I need to call Apple Support!!!!

I tried updating the security permissions on the Image Capture folder (and all contents with that folder) to Read and Write for Everyone.

I confirmed that CaptureOnTouch has Full Disk Access permissions (in Private and Security).

Still no luck.

Any suggestions?

NOTE - The scanner functions perfectly for documents that are legal document size or smaller. Unfortunately, having no access to the Advanced Settings prevents me from changing the document size or changing other important settings such as light or dark and others.

Exactly the same issue I'm having. It's almost 2026, this OS is OLD, what about Tahoe support?? How many more years? 3 years per driver update, which is when Apple EOL's the OS?
