      <title>CanoScan LiDE 400 works with Image Capture but "Cannot Communicate with Scanner"</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I just got CanoScan LiDE 400 and connected it to Macbook Pro M3 Max with Sequoia 15.4 and latest 2025 version of IJ Scan Utility Lite 4.1.2 for Mac.&amp;nbsp; Software sucks.&amp;nbsp; I attached the scanner and IJ Scan would not recognize the scanner.&amp;nbsp; I had to manually add the scanner using Printer and Scanner and now only Image Capture app on mac (screenshot attached) allows me to scan images.&amp;nbsp; WIth Canon IJ Scan Utility i get this error message:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;"Cannot communicate with scanner for these reasons:&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;-Scanner is turned off.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;-USB Cable is disconnected.....&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Is the unit defective?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;span class="lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline" image-alt="s.png" style="width: 999px;"&gt;&lt;img src="https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/66267iFCABCCB7CA737025/image-size/large?v=v2&amp;amp;px=999" role="button" title="s.png" alt="s.png" /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
