Canon LiDE 210 works with every software except MP Navigator EX

Works perfectly in the standard windows Scan program, and in a couple 3rd party ones I've tried, but these all only offer a maximum of 600dpi. I know about how to access the driver through MP, but whenever I try it gives the "scanner is warming up" message for a couple seconds followed by an error (2,179,12) that says to release the lock switch then disconnect and reconnect the scanner. The lock switch is not engaged, and there shouldn't be a problem with my cable. I did manage to get a couple scans out of MP earlier, but they were just weird images of grey bars. Help greatly appreciated!

Thanks, went out and bought an Epson, it met my needs very well!

Sounds like a good alternative. Though, Epson is not much better either.
