I've been pulling my hair out. I have Spyder screen and print calibration - I've gone through all the steps dozens of times.

I've printed targets, I've read targets, I've used every Media Setting in combinations.

I can get almost spot on color with color photos.

The Heavy Weight Fine Art settings (based on a target made that way) is a bit washed out.

The Matte Photo Paper is over saturated, or tinted on way or the other.

I make adjustments to the profile, and I can get by.

Then I go to print a grayscale image using these profiles and instead of a neutral image I get pink or magenta.

All this is through Canon Print Studio Pro working withing Photoshop 2019.

I'm about to give up and build a darkroom.

Any similar experiences, or hints?

Have you tried using the profiles supplied by Hahnemuehle? I use their profiles with several of their papers with good results.

I have, which is why I began the masochistic investment in calibration.

What are you using for Media settings?

Moab Endura profiles give Moab Endura better results than I’ve had with Hahnemühle profiles and paper. But all too dense.

Hahnemüle photo rag Duo, andvthe 308gsm

I’ve used them mostly with Heavy Weight Fine Art. Dramatically different but sharper results with Matte Photo Paper.

I use the Hahnemuhle Photo Rag on my Imageprograf PRO-4000 with great results. Try setting the printer driver to "Highest Density Fine Art Paper." I got that from this document:

https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART163327

There's also this document:

https://ugp01.c-ij.com/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/PRO-4000/EN/PIF/pif_4000f_0000_2ra_eng.html

It also shows settings for Photo Rag. I print straight from Photoshop or Illustrator; I don't use Print Studio Pro. Be sure you're setting the right paper profile under "Color Management" in the Photoshop dialog box, and then the same paper type when you go into Print Settings and enter the paper type in Canon's print driver. If both papers don't match, you won't get good results. Let me know how it goes.

Neil Goldman

Indigo Image Lab, Inc.

Now I'm finding that the Canon Pro-1000 won't take files from PS. It will only go through Print Studio.

I happened to find another post of yours Niel where you were having similar trouble printig from PS.

I'm going to uninstall the printer, reload the driver, and try again.

What an expensive machine to get on-line!
