Canon Pixma Pro 9000 Mark II driver wont install

I was able to download the driver to my new Mac OS high sierra 10.13.6 but it wont install completely. What am I doing wrong?? The computer does not find it after I installed it. Love this printer, have had it for a long time. Still have a lot of ink tanks and I never had a problem with it. Also my old mac died but before it did the printer also dissapeared..

You have the 16.20 driver from the Canon support site?

Yes, I downloaded it from the site and its on my desktop but everytime I click the driver icon it goes back to the download...and its not on my computer when i try to add a printer there is none!?

You should use Apple provided printer drivers instead of Canon provided printer drivers.
