I have a new Pro-100, the color is consistently red/magenta, I have used both canon luster and semigloss papers and matching profiles.

I have made the same exact print on my Epson with perfect results, same paper, today

I have the ICC profiles, I am letting Photoshop do the color.

Frequently when color is off it is due to double profiling - the printer and the application are both setting the color profile.

Go into your printer setup window and be sure you set color matching to None.

Since you are on a Mac you need this configuration:

Check Photoshop manages colors and be sure you select ColorSync and not Canon Color Matching.

Get there by selecting Print settings under Printer Setup.

Thanks, I am getting closer, still some questions.

I am not sure what to use under Presets. I get options but none are like your example shows what I think is a paper type, I get options for example...... fast printing plain paper, fine printing plain paper, last used or default

So what do I use there.

Then under printer profile, I can put Canon lj color printer forfile 2005 or pick a paper ICC What is correct there?

The prints are better, but still are not a good match to my screen or the print off my Epson.

Sorry I am not knocking Canon with that comment. Just the first print off the Epson in this set up test was spot on and that color is my goal for the Canon.Pro-100

When your in the initial checkout I recommend you install and use Canon Print Studio Pro. You make your selections in PSP and it handles Photoshop.

You are correct - the preset you saw is a custom one I created.

Initially stat with Default. Then go through each of the dropdown menus and make the appropriate settings. When you are completed you can save it with a name and then recall it.

For profile you would select the paper profile. If you save it and reopen it then it will say Automatic and the actual profile will be listed below it.

Last Used remembers the settings most recently used.

Thanks for all the help, I learned how to use psp and that makes all the difference.

I am only stuck on adding non canon manufactures icc profiles to work from.

I followed the directions and placed them in my library, but they are not showing up in the psp drop down

I have closed photoshop and restarted my mac, but they are not showing up.

Glad things are getting sorted out for you. Some folks feel PSP is unncessary, and in principle they are right - it doesn't do anything you can't do yourself by selecting the correct settings in the software and the printer driver.

But as you, and I previously, have found, the Mac system is much more difficult than the Windows system when it comes to getting all the "switches" in the correct position.

I redid my instalationof the ICC profiles for the pro-100 from HAHNEMUHLE for my Hahnemuhle papers I use, following the directions from Red River, still they do not show up when I go to print from PSP.

It works for me. They should show up in the Printer Profile dropdown.

On my form at the top it asks for media type, I thought that was the paper.......
But like you pointed out if I go to printer profile, the paper options comes up.
It does not over ride the media type choice from the top of the window???

OK the color is great! But why does it not print to the 8x10 the print was cropped in photoshop.

Now when I look at the preview I can see, just like it printed that it is not 8x10.

And I would be one of them. However, I am not a Mac user so I can't rightfully say about them. I do think the latest PSP is pretty good. At least it is getting better. It is getting there just like the latest DPP4. For Windoze, I still see it as unnecessary but who knows, it may get better yet.

OK so I set up the ICC profiles for the printer and used them for my Hahnemuhle Silk and Yuck!

Also tried doing borderless, so I would get the 8x10, well it printed to 8.5x11, the paper size I used.

So now I have one image 7x9 and one 8.5x11 neither 8x10

Also the print on the silk is terrible looking.

I had been using Canon Semigloss

3 days into my new printer and going backwards......

Media Type is the Canon paper surface. You will see that they are all Canon paper names. Every third-party profile should call out what Canon media type to select. Printer Profile controls how the ink is laid down.

You may need to play with the Layout tab. There is an interplay between paper size, margins and cell size. Plus my experience is all with Lightroom.

I love that everyone is trying to help, but honestly, if I ran my business like this I would not have one. Does Canon have a help line?

Hahnemuehle says to use Other Glossy Paper as the media type Silk Baryta 310.

I print on that paper with excellent results.

You can download an very helpful, searchable On-screen manual for the printer from the Canon website.

Plus there are two PDFs that get installed in the folder for Print Studio Pro.
