PIXMA PRO-200 Trouble printing from Photoshop Elements and selecting paper sizes

I haven't posted here in quite a while because all has been well. However, I have new photos from our African photo safari last month that I want to print on my Canon Pro-200 printer, and I am having trouble in two ways.

Two background pieces of info first: I upgraded to Windows 11 late last year and then purchased Photoshop Premiere elements 2025 since my earlier version was not compatible with Windows 11 (of course!!!).

Now my specific questions:

(1) I cannot print directly from Adobe Photoshop Premiere Elements 2025 at all. It does a hard stop and bounces me out of the Photoshop elements program. In looking briefly online, it looks like it is not compatible with my Pro-200 printer and suggested I need to re-install a new print driver. Does this sound correct?

(2) Now I am trying to print directly from Windows, and I am having trouble selecting the proper paper sizes to satisfy the Pro-200 printer. In the past, in order to make an 11x14 print, I could print on 11x17 paper and then just cut off the extra blank paper after printing. So, I re-sized the print I want to 11x14 and put 11x17 paper into the printer. This time, when I select 11x17 paper size on the Pro-200 it tells me that the paper width selected is wrong, and it just pushes out the blank page.

Any ideas on either or both of my above questions will be much appreciated. I don't want to have to print smaller photos on my desktop printer, because some of them just need to be larger and on the wall.

If I have to "simply" install a new print driver from Canon, I will, but I really don't know how to do that and will need to figure it out. If I do not have to install a new print driver, I don't want to totally screw my Pro-200 by doing something unnecessary.

HELP PLEASE!!!

Thank you, big time,

I am glad to help but have zero experience with your Adobe software so I will ignore that request for now and hopefully get your photos printed satisfactorily. Please use Canon's recommended software for your printer from https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/pixma-pro-200 - specifically Professional Print & Layout (PPL). The software and instructions are on that page for PPL and for the drivers. There is a new driver from 8/3/2026 that I suggest that you download and install.

The user manual is also there. I suggest that you download the pdf version. Page 340 discusses paper size - https://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/7/0300040657/03/PRO-200ser_OnlineManual_Win_EN_V04.pdf

Printing from PPL and using the new driver are fully supported by Canon. You should ensure that you have that working prior to exploring the Adobe software.

Once printing from PPL is working perhaps this video will help, or perhaps not. He's printing from PhotoShop - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1N7qlqneS5E&t=3s

I am assuming the following are in good shape and working:

The OS is up to date with all of the latest updates from MS

Your wireless network is working properly

You are using paper Canon supports for that printer

Hope this helps get you printing successfully. Again, please use the Canon-support option first and demonstrate that works. PPL is a bit buggy at times, but I use it quite successfully for my printing. Then you can use a third party software to print and perhaps that third party can address any issues via their community, etc. Or perhaps someone here is using Essentials and your model printer, but it seems most folks here that use Adobe choose LightRoom or PhotoShop.

Install the new drive as SignifDigits recommended.

Did the printer work after installing W11? Can you print email or documents with the printer ? What software are you trying to use to print directly from Windows?

After installing look in Control Panel->Devices and Printers and verify that your printer is not identified with a WS designation. That is a Windows driver with limited capability.

Thank you so much, guys. When we upgraded our computers from Windows 10 to 11, apparently we installed a printer driver for my desktop Canon printer but not for the larger Pro-200 printer. I hadn't used the bigger printer since that upgrade, so I didn't know it wasn't working. When I looked under the control panel to see what print driver was assigned to the Pro-200 it said "Microsoft Class IPP print driver", which was apparently a generic something that didn't do me any good. I went into the control panel and removed the Pro-200 printer, and then downloaded the most recent printer driver from Canon USA. That is apparently all that was needed, as it now talks to Photoshop Elements 2025 and to Windows 11, and it will now print just as well as it did before I upgraded from Windows 10 to 11. Thanks for your tips. I very much appreciate your quick responses. All sorted!
