PIXMA PRO-200S How to use ICC profiles in PP&L

Hello everyone, I've just bought a Canon Pro200S and have downloaded their Professional Print and Layout software for printing. But I'm confused about how to use this regarding ICC profiles.

In the past I've used a lab for printing and have softproofed in Lightroom using the ICC profile for the paper I'm using at the lab. With this printer should I download the Canon ICC profiles for the paper I want to use, or is it already there somewhere? If I print directly from the Canon software, how do I know my print will come out coloured correctly even if I select the correct paper/printer etc? Do I softproof in Lightroom first before using the PPL software to make the print? If so do I need to download the ICC profiles from the Canon website for use on Lightroom? I intend to stick to Canon papers to begin with.

I'm really confused by this so any help would be appreciated please.

If you are using Canon papers the printer driver installation process will have downloaded the correct ICC profiles.

If you are on a Mac computer be sure you installed the Canon IJ Series driver and not the AirPrint driver.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mU7LNNsnrjM

You can toggle soft proofing on/off in PP&L.

You can download a good testimgae her, along with good educational material.

https://www.outbackphoto.com/printinginsights/pi049/essay.html

Enjoy. Printing your own photos is a lot of fun.

Be sure your monitor is calibrated. Some displays have builtin calibration for sRGB or Adobe RGB, Select that setting if available.

I've have had very satisfactory results using Professional Print and Layout (PPL) and Canon papers and using a calibrated screen on the Pro-1100. I use the Adobe RGB on both my camera and and PPL for a the widest color spectrum, and I soft proof in PPL, as well. I do not print from Adobe software so others would have to address that.
