Hi,

I recently purchased a second hand Canon Pro 1000. I previously had a Canon Pro 300 and was having no issues with software, colours or anything printing on Canon Pro Platinum Glossy paper.

I picked up the Pro 1000, got it home, ran all of the maintenance options I could. Replaced the waste cartridge also. It printed everything fine for all of the tests.

I used Canon Professional Layout to print, and I always match the paper properly. I haven't changed any settings really apart from the correct printer choice, and paper choice.

It prints fine on Matte paper, however when I use Pro Platinum Gloss the colours are all off, like ghost - chrome effect.

I have tried so many different things, choosing no ICC profile, printing directly from Lightroom, trying to print choosing matte paper when its gloss, I have tried everything I could think of. I reset the printer, re-installed the software for Canon - I can't get this ghosting looking colours on glossy paper to go away

All of the ink levels are fine, no warnings anywhere, all maintenance done.

Please help with some suggestions if possible or potential fixes. I'm at a loss. Am I double profiling - I can't see how as I have not changed my methods at all and tried even disabling ICC profiles.

Hi Danny,

thanks for trying to help.

What version of Windows are you using?
Win11 25H2

Are you using your PRO-1100 wirelessly?
No, via Ethernet

Paper: Hahnemühle "Photo Glossy 260"

AM1X + ICC Profile from Hahnemühle website for the PRO-1100 and their "Photo Glossy 260" Paper

Software: Canon Professional Print & Layout

I’ve attached a scan of a print on "Photo Glossy 260" paper and a scan of a print on cheap office paper for comparison (with the "Plain Paper" option in "Canon Professional Print & Layout").

On the print on "Photo Glossy 260" the colors look extremely unnatural and washed out, with strong yellow‑orange and cyan color shifts. Also visible banding, especially in the grass and building areas.

After countless tests with papers and ICC profiles, I finally found the problem.

A nozzle check showed that the Canon wasn’t printing any PBK or CO. A cleaning cycle fixed it, and now the prints finally look good.

I feel pretty stupid for not thinking of that right away. 😣

Unfortunately, it looks like the problem wasn’t actually fixed by the nozzle cleanig.

I printed an image and after about 90% of the print, black (PBK) dropped out again.

Another nozzle check confirmed it: PBK and CO weren’t being printed anymore.

I will try the "intensive cleaning" but then I’m slowly running out of ideas.
