I have a Canon ImageProGraf Pro-300 and I now have the dreaded 5B00 Support Code and the printer has stopped. Four questions:

1. How can I empty or clean the ink absorber

2. How can I gain access to the ink cartridges when the printer has stopped and they are resting in their 'home' position over to the right?

3. Is there a service center that can 'restore' the ink absorber to it's original condition?

4. Is there a way to perform this cleaning by the owner?

I have printed over 7,000 pages in a year and a half, which worked perfectly until it stopped. I know I am out of warranty.

Let me know your thoughts and ideas.

Thank you

Steve

Hello,

The error would point to a problem with the waste ink absorber. The code will mean it is full, or the printer needs service. You can purchase a replacement waste ink absorber from our parts department at 1-866-481-2569. Unfortunately, we do not have service centers that work on this model, but you can check for any third-party office equipment/printer repair in your area.

I purchased a new Imageprograf Pro-300 and the error message is the code 1700 which is the ink absorber is almost full. I have printed 5700 pages so far. There is no consumer serviceable method to replace the absorber. Since on my earlier printer reached the ink absorber full message, which halts all printing. I would like to be proactive to resolve this issue before it fills up. I am curious how others are dealing with this issue.
