Fine white lines on Pro-310 prints

Hi, I got a brand new Pro-310 printer yesterday, and I've been printing on various papers to get familiar with it. I've discovered that on Canon Platinum Pro and Moab Juniper Baryta (so far), I'm getting fine but very visible white lines on the trailing edge of the photo as it comes out of the printer. On Photo Paper Plus Glossy II, it's over the whole photo, but especially bad on the trailing edge. I've attached pics below. I haven't noticed them on matte paper yet, although I haven't put as much matte through it.

I did a print head alignment, and interestingly there were some white lines on those output sheets. A clue? Then I ran a nozzle check, which was fine, so I didn't run a cleaning. Then another alignment, and this time, the alignment output sheets printed perfectly, no lines. But when I went back to printing photos, they were still present. Finally, I did a manual alignment, again to no avail.

I usually print from Lightroom, but I also tried Canon PPL, and it didn't make a difference. I've set Chroma Optimizer to "printed areas." These are 4x6 and 5x7 prints, at standard quality.

I also have a Pro-200S, which prints perfectly, so I'm surprised by this situation.

Any thoughts on what to try, until I can call support on Monday? I'd rather not blow through a ton more ink and paper just to troubleshoot a brand new machine. And I'd hate to have to return it to B&H—this is actually the second one they sent me after the first one arrived physically damaged—but I guess I can, as a last resort.

Thanks!

Platinum Pro; also on Moab JuniperPlatinum Pro; also on Moab JuniperPhoto Paper Plus Glossy II

Update, I might've fixed it. I hadn't run a cleaning cycle because the nozzle check was fine, plus the unit was brand new. But I gave it a try, and the white lines have gone away, at least for now. We'll see how it goes from here.

Hi Jabman! Thanks for contributing to the Canon Community. I see that you are seeing faint white lines in the trailing portion of the paper.

When you see horizontal white streaks, that normally signals clogged print head nozzles. If you are printing in the Portrait orientation, the white streaks will be across the page (from side to side). If you are printing in the Landscape orientation, the white streaks will start at the top of the image and go down.

If you see white vertical lines, you are likely dealing with an alignment issue. When printing in the Portrait orientation, those lines will start at the top and go to the bottom. When printing in the Landscape orientation, the white lines will go side to side.

I do see the lines in your sample photos, so if they are being printed in the landscape orientation, then you are dealing with some clogged nozzles. We always recommend that you start with printing the nozzle check pattern. Most of the time, you will see streaks or missing lines in that pattern. You can see the example in step 8 of the following section of the online manual for your PRO-310:
https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/PRO-310%20series/EN/UG/ug_e001.html

Please note: If you do not see anything wrong with the nozzle check pattern, but you continue to see horizontal streaks of white in your prints, it would not hurt to clean the print head nozzle.

To fix clogged nozzles, we recommend the Cleaning option offered in the printer's maintenance menu. Then print another nozzle check pattern to see if the issue has been resolved. If you still see horizontal streaks or missing lines in your nozzle check or prints, you can do a deep cleaning. After the deep cleaning is done, you can print another nozzle check to see if the maintenance helped.

If the Deep cleaning does not help, you can do up to two more Deep Cleans. However, we recommend waiting at least 3 hours, but no more than 24 hours to start the next deep clean. Waiting gives the fresh ink time to soak through the clog and loosen it (like Drano). I personally recommend waiting somewhere between 6 and 12 hours.

You do not want to wait longer than 24 hours between the deep cleaning attempts because you may be giving the clog to dry up again. If you perform the deep cleans consecutively, the clog may still be too hard to dislodge.

For information on what you can do when your prints are not what you expect, you can look at the following section of the manual:
https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/PRO-310%20series/EN/UG/ug-132.html

That page does include links to instructions for the Cleaning, Deep Cleaning, and Print head alignment.

If your issue persists, I recommend contacting Canon and speaking with a technical support representative. You will need to create a Canon account and register your printer before you call their toll-free phone number (1-800- 652- 2666). To create your Canon Account and register the printer, please open the following link and click on "Don't have an account" :
https://myid.canon/canonid/#/login

I hope this information helps. Thanks again.
