I sell art prints and recently upgraded my printer from a Canon Pixma G600 to a Canon Pro-310. Since I’m experiencing the same issue with both printers, I’m starting to think this may be user error.

My problem is that my art prints are being cut off incorrectly when printed borderless. I understand that borderless printing always trims a small amount, but no matter how I adjust my settings, the image is still cut unevenly. One side of the print shows more of the image than the other, making the final print look crooked.

This is especially noticeable because of how I design my art prints. The subject is centered, and I create a custom border around it. When the print isn’t aligned correctly, one side of the border ends up thicker than the other, making the entire image appear off-center.

My workflow is as follows: I create my artwork in Procreate at the exact size I want to print (8×10). I then transfer the file into Canva, place it onto a plain black 8×10 canvas, and center it using Canva’s alignment guides so the black area acts as the border for my prints. Because of this, I’m confident the artwork itself is centered correctly before printing.

I’ve also tried designing on a slightly larger canvas in Canva (such as 8.2×10.5) to compensate for borderless trimming, but the prints are still coming out unevenly.

At this point, I’m unsure whether this is simply an unavoidable limitation of borderless printing, or if there’s a setting I’m missing. I upgraded my printer hoping this issue would be resolved, so I’m surprised it’s still happening.

Making sure our understanding is correct and asking a couple questions for clarity. You are creating an image in Canva that has a black border with your primary image centered within that black border. Then you are printing that image with black border in borderless mode and the print - both border and primary image - is then askew (which would affect both corners I assume?), and that you're getting the same result with both the Canon Pixma G600 and a Canon Pro-310. Correct?

What application are you printing from? Have you exported and or examined a JPEG in other applications to ensure it is not askew?

Yes, that is correct.
I save my prints as PNG files and I print directly from Windows photo. In the past, I have tried printing from Lightroom but did not find this to change or help anything.

OK, so a few items to cover - the Pro-310 support page is at https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/imageprograf-pro-310. We'll want to make sure your printer is registered with Canon, firmware up to date, with the correct drivers from that site. I suggest that you download the Canon printing software. Using Canon software to print to Canon printers will hopefully ensure what you see on your screen is what your printer produces.

It's always possible that both printers have the same paper misalignment issue, but that possibility seems pretty remote.

Have you tried a JPG output from Canva to see if there is any difference between it and the PNG?
