What i don't understand is how the paper tat the OP mentioned 0849V342 would even fit in a TC20/21 since its OD is 4.5 inches which is more than the maximum OD of 4.4 which Canon states from a 2 inch core.

If OD is ever a problem could a section be cut off shrinking the core? Can that cut off paper too ever be used (like attaching to the original roll when empty?)

Just to verify what is the maximum Mil, GSM and physical weight a TC 20/21 can accept?

Hi all,

I have a TC-20 (purchased November '23) and recently purchased a roll of CANON branded Heavyweight Matte Coated Paper (Item No. 0849V342). Which IIRC I read somewhere was the same as MOAB Lasal.

When installing the roll I set the printer settings to "HW Coated HG". But, unfortunately, when printing images containing greens and blues the greens are significantly faded to yellows and the blues are at least 50% darker than expected (think new blue jeans vs sky blue).

The same image prints fine (albeit ~10% darker) when printed on a generic plastic coated canvas (like you might use for a banner) with the printer setting of "Syn. Paper".

I do understand that paper, profiles, and adjustments made to an image may affect print output, but given I am not adjusting the image, I feel this is more an issue of (minimally) using the wrong paper profile with the CANON paper.

Normally I would acquire the correct ICC profile and use that in addition to any printer settings and image adjustments.

This leads to the following questions:

1. What is the correct printer Paper Type setting for this paper?

2. What is the correct ICC profile for CANON Heavyweight Matte Coated Paper?

3. Does CANON provide a settings+ICC profiles various papers for the TC-20?

I have about 8 tabs worth of community and support docs to read through but on first glance none seem to address the above.

Thank you,

-m

Hi Zeretic! Thanks for posting in the Canon Community Forum. I see that you have an imagePROGRAF TC-20 and you would like to know which color profile is best for the Heavyweight Matte Coated Paper you purchased.

This type of paper is not on the list of papers recommended for your printer. The Printer Driver does not have a color (ICC) profile for Heavyweight Matte Coated Paper. It does have a color profile for Heavyweight Coated Paper (HG) which is a different paper type.

You could experiment with the Special Paper options. Information on using the “Special Paper” profiles can be found in the following section of the User Manual:

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/TC-20M/EN/PIF/pif_0000_2rs.html

The paper recommendations for your printer are listed in the following sections of the User’s Manual:

Paper Rolls:

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/TC-20M/EN/PIF/pif_0000_2ra.html

Cut Paper:

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/TC-20M/EN/PIF/pif_0000_2sa.html

If you need more information about the paper for your printer, you can visit the following page:

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/TC-20M/EN/LBGA/lbga_b000.html

I hope this information helps. Thanks for choosing Canon.
