I just installed the Pro9000 Mark II on a Windows 11 computer. I wasn't able to get it to work using the Device Manager instructions shared by thekoos, so I wanted to share. Here's what I did:

Plugged it into my USB port and turned it on, then checked the Device Manager under Printers.

The Pro9000 wasn't listed there. Instead, I had the Microsoft IPP Class Driver, which is apparently a universal Plug & Play printer driver for Microsoft.

I clicked on the Microsoft IPP Class Driver and clicked the button to go to the Devices & Printers Folder to manage the printer.

In that folder, the printer wasn't showing up with the other printers that I had installed. It was showing up as "Unspecified" below it.

I clicked on the Pro9000 and selected Remove Device

I installed it again using the driver downloaded from Canon (link from elsewhere in this thread)

Although it took two tries to find the printer, it installed!

I also restarted my computer several times during the process. I'm not sure if it helped, but figured I'd mention that. Good luck!

Alan - would you mind sharing where you found the driver? On the official Canon website I can't seem to find them:

https://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/products/printers/inkjet/pixma_pro_series/pixma_pro9000.html?type=drivers&language=&os=windows%2010%20(64-bit)

Hey there. Not sure if this is still relevant but I had the exact same issue with Windows 11 not detecting the printer and there not being a driver installation from Canon. The solution is pretty simple: Plug the printer in to the computer and switch it on. Open Device Manager and look under the Software Devices category. There should be an entry for the 9000Pro. Right click the pro9000 entry and select the update driver option and then Search automatically for drivers. Once the drivers have been updated the printer will appear in the Printers category and the spooler will be setup so you can print. Hope this helps....

Although it seemed to work for someone else who replied a few months before me, it didn't work for me. The Canon Pro9000II printer appeared in the Software devices, but the only driver available was a generic one. That did not seem to be enough to make the printer appear under the Printers section. Has anyone else had any luck getting this printer to work with Windows 11?

I finally got this old beast to print in Windows 11. I couldn't even begin to explain the convoluted steps that actually made it work, there were a few botched attempts in there where I messed with manually assigning port but I think that was all irrelevant.

My best guess on the actual way to do this: I had to uninstall it from device manager while the Windows 10 driver provided from Canon was running on the "connect to pc, turn on printer, this can take a while" step. So while it's on that screen, you uninstall the driver under Universal Serial Bus controllers, then "Scan for Hardware Changes". This caused the Canon driver to complete successfully. Then I installed the XPS driver, also provided from Canon. Then, when I wanted to print something in my web browser, I had to use the system dialogue (under More Options). Just printed a page with 4+ year old ink and it surprisingly looks great!

Good luck!

The beast comes alive!

Windows 11, not recognising printer.

Downloaded Win 10 driver, followed thekoos instructions. Several failed attempts S9000 not showing up in register. Left for a few days - and there it was!

12 years (two house moves) unused in its original box, same set of inks ... this beauty of a printer has just given me, at the first time of asking, the most perfect of prints. I am over the moon!

Thank you, to all of the folks who posted help. Thank you, thank you, thank you ....
