Hi John,

I honestly don’t know what’s going on with it, I don’t have any information about the printer’s history, and I’m also not sure if it might be missing any parts. That’s my suspicion, but I can’t confirm anything.

Best,

Hi everyone,

A family member recently gave me a Canon printer (it currently has no cartridges installed), and when I turn it on, it makes a strange noise, like the carriage is forcing itself or not properly fixed in place. I'm not sure if this is normal behavior when there are no cartridges, or if it might be missing a part or something is out of place.

The carriage moves, but it feels like it's not secure, as if it doesn't fully lock in or gets stuck halfway. Is this normal for Canon printers without cartridges installed? Or could it be missing a component or incorrectly assembled?

I’d really appreciate any advice before I try installing cartridges or disassembling anything. I can upload a video of the noise if that helps.

Thanks in advance!

I don't have that printer, but I have a Pro-100. Sounds like something is wrong. Do you know the history of the printer? Why are there no cartridges?
