Okay, so far this seems to have worked:

1) I manually select paper settings on the printer

2) Installed the Canon Professional Print & Layout, THEN manually install the PPL plugin, into the Ps application plugin folder.

In shop, open the file you want to print, then go to File -> automate -> you'll see the PPL plugin.

I still don't know why I was able to directly print from Ps, and then suddenly wasn't able to, but I'll have to spend time figuring that out later.

Hello! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

By the end of April, I had completed the proofing process and was ready for production on a 5 x 7 greeting card. The final proofed master file was printed with these settings:

7 x 10 60lb Pecos River Gloss card stock from Red River Paper

PSD file / 300 DPI / RGB 16bit

Canon Pro 1000 with RR Pecos River Gloss V-1 printer profile for Canon.

MacBook Pro 14 / Sequoia 15.4.1

Unsure which version of PS prior to 26.6.1 I was using, but most likely the prior version.

I installed two updates early last week:

Ps 26.6.1

the V-2 printing profiles from Red River for canon.

Three errors are now occurring and I have not been able to clear them:

I cannot seem to find many print settings in the Ps printing dialogued, including the critical setting of “avoid abrasion” setting.

An error on the printer itself occurs:

“Size or type of the paper loaded in the top feed is different from the print settings” screen two: “check whether the paper that matches the following settings is loaded: Page size “Other” “type: pro platinum”

Most critically: The print output is completely out of whack from the proofed master copy I had.

Troubleshooting I’ve done so far:

Reverted Photoshop all the way back to v25, still can’t find the avoid abrasion settings.

Uninstalled RR profiles

Uninstalled Canon Pro 1000

Restarted the laptop

Re-installed the printer

Re-installed V-1 of the Pecos River Gloss profile

Created a brand-new greeting card file (in case the template was corrupted for some reason)

Made three test prints

Original file with RR Pecos River Gloss V-1 profile

Still way out whack

Original file printed with the standard sRGB profile

The closest to replicating my original master print, but still not a satisfactory matching of my screen and output like I had achieved prior to whatever seems to have gone sideways.

Brand new file, with the RR V-1 profile

No difference, the RR profile is still way off for some reason.

I have a Pro-100, but your printer might be the same. Access the Printer Utility via System Settings-Printers & Scanners.

You didn't mention this, but did you try reinstalling the printer driver?

Thanks John! I was able to figure out how to print directly from the Canon PPL plugin through shop.

Appreciate you taking the time to help me troubleshoot this!
