I just received a new Pixma pro 200s. I was all set to print away but all my pictures comes out with too much magenta saturation. The test prints are fine, I profiled my apple studio display. I changed the magenta ink cartridge. I printed in both LRC and Ps all up to date with the same results. When I tried to decrease the magenta saturation, it came out yellowish ( as you’d expect). I printed and copy of PrinterEvaluationImage_V002_ProPhoto.tif with the same results. It is clearly the magenta that is over saturated. I’ve check Canon’s site and the web but I’ve done everything they suggested.

Any help appreciated!!!

Sounds like you are on a Mac. Verify that you are using the IJ Series version of the printer driver and not the Apple AirPrint driver.

Thank you for your reply. I am on a Mac and after I posted this, I became aware that I was installing AirPrint even though I didn't have the Wi-Fi turned on. The 200s does not to recognize the USB connection. The Mac sees the printer as USB in the print set up dialog but if I launch the IJ utility, it says it cannot find the computer and quits. I've ordered a new cable presuming that's the cause but the cable I am using worked fine my old Pixma pro 100. At one point I did seem to get the Canon driver 25.5.5.0.0 but even with that any photo I print is just plain awful. Yet, when printing a test page, it looks great!! I print thru photoshop or LRC and generally ask the software to control the printing. Never had a problem with the Pixma pro 100; it was just old and just not printing crisply enough ( despite cleaning an all that stuff). Really Frustrating!!!

You should contact Canon support for your country.

That's the plan! But first I'm going to try and connect directly to my MBP rather than a port on monitor

Thanx

Well important as it may be it did not work. Finally I was able to get the current driver for the 200S 29.5.0.0 (confirmed on a call to Canon support) but the prints were still awful. Finally I remembered the Professional Print and Layout software and installed the app and plugin. Voilá, the 200S is printing as expected. Still cannot understand why printing directly and having the printing controlled by the Adobe software fails to work. Never had an issue with the pro 100

My Pro-100 can only use the earlier Print Studio Pro. There was never a difference between PSP and LrC. Rarely used PSP.

Other folks have reported similar experiences with PP&L.

Since it is resolved please mark thread solved.
