A friend gifted me his Pro-100 printer with unused ink cartridges and a lot of photo paper when he moved a year ago. Is it worth trying to set it up, since this printer is no longer supported by Canon? I found the driver for my IMac and software. I hate to invest the time in trying to get it operational if it is a white elephant.

Canon no longer supports the printer but that doesn't affect its functionality.

Do you want to print photos and not just use a gift you received? if so, the Pro-100 is an excellent printer.

It will take less than an hour to set it up and verify if it is functional or not.

Since you said iMac the one thing to watch for is when you add the printer on the computer wait until the IJ Series version of the printer shows up - the Apple AirPrint driver usually appears first. You don't want that.

Once its installed run a nozzle check.
