Hello,

I recently purchased a Canon PRO-1100 photo printer and successfully installed all the drivers. The printer is functioning well overall, but I'm facing an issue with the paper types displayed.

The list of paper types shown on the printer's display does not match the list in the Media Configuration Tool on my computer. Specifically, there are around seven types of paper that are visible in the Media Configuration Tool but do not appear on the printer's display, even though the tool shows that these paper types are registered in the printer.

Could you please assist me in resolving this issue? Why are the paper types not appearing on the printer’s display, despite being shown as registered in the tool?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Have you downloaded and installed the other software from Canon's site? One of them is the Media Configuration tool that is used to create your media types. Sometimes overlooked is the function to sync those media types with the printer and driver.

Yes, I use this Media Configuration tool. Although the selected papers do not appear on the printer display, the tool's software, as shown in the screenshots, shows the papers are already saved in the printer. I included all the selected papers, but after the update, I still cannot see or utilize them on the printer.

Two thoughts:

1) I imagine you have referenced this document: https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/MediaConfigurationTool/M/1.1/EN/MCT/tp191511.html

2) Have you, by chance, disabled the setting in the printer to coincide with the print driver (like me)? In so doing, I do not make the media choices at the printer, but only on the computer. Pro and con on either choice but for me it simplifies printing.

Note that my experience is with the Pro 1000.

Hey! I know this is an old question, but I think I solved a similar issue with my Canon Pro 1000.

I kept getting a Paper Mismatch when picking a paper in the printer driver that differed from what was selected on the printer itself. The solution was to "ignore paper mismatch" so that the printer used the actual paper choice that was selected in the printer driver (the print menu).

I was able to do this on a Mac by opening Printers & Scanners > Select Canon PRO1000 > Options & Supplies > Utility Tab > Open Printer Utility > Custom Settings > then I enabled the option: "Don't detect mismatch of paper settings when printing from computer"

After doing this and sending the settings to the printer, a new option showed on the printer itself. On the printer's physical panel, there was a checkbox where I could disable "Detect print paper mismatch". I turned it off.

This effectively made it so that the printer used whatever paper choice I selected on the printer driver itself.

Hope this helps!

OK, I actually solved my issue. The issue is that after using the Media Configuration Tool I immediately went over to the printer and tried to verify my new paper setting was available. The problem is that the top level menu item where you select paper size / type is for the Top Feed ONLY. So if the paper you add (invisibly) marks itself for manual feed only you will never see it in that menu setting. The easiest way to verify a new paper setting reliably is to close the top feed, open the manual feed and then place a piece of paper (any type) into the feed. It should then auto-detect the manual feed load and pull up the manual feed setting dialog on the printer for you and NOW you can see your special paper show up.

I think this could be important for folks to understand because if you had turned off the warning above you could have easily loaded the paper in the (incorrect) top feed and potentially wasted expensive paper. At least I know I would have 🙂
