Hi, im wondering if all Canon dye and pigment inks are the same quality.
In other words, im asking if the following dye black inks (GL43, GL56 and CLI-551XL) are all the same. If you ask me, i think that they should be the same, its just that they are placed in different containers, so they can be used in diff printers. I think that makes sence, i just want to be certain thats why im asking you guys as professionals.

What do you mean by "quality"? The difference between dye inks and pigment inks is transparency. Dye ink colors, even the black, have to be transparent for the colors to mix optically on a print in photos and colors that are not pure cyan, magenta and yellow. The inks on paper are colored filters. Black pigment inks are less transparent, or even opaque, for printing text, or solid blacks.

It's not a "quality" thing, it's a physical property for the intended use. I think it's probably the same ink in all cartridges, just different containers.

Thanks #normadel, i guess my non native English made the mixup. As you said, i guess the answer is that all dye or pigment inks that Canon produces have the same physical property, despite they are placed in either cartridges or bottles
