Greetings,

This sounds like a hardware issue. I'd open the device up and carefully inspect for any foreign debris. Next, I would remove its inks and printhead. then reseat and reinstall. If the behavior continues, you'll need to contact Canon for repair.

imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 purchased in 2019 (used rarely) fails to load Pro Platinum paper in the top. It loads in the manual feed but the printer crashes mid-print. It powers off abruptly - no error is displayed, and it won't start again using the power button. The only way I can get it to boot following a crash is to disconnect the power lead and wait 10 minutes. After rebooting it behaves the same way. I can sometimes complete a simple document print on plain paper, but it still crashes after the print is finished.
