Remote Controlled Pan Cradle for Vixia HF-R42 Camcorder?

I own a Vixia HF R42 and want to use a wirelessly controlled pan cradle like the CT-V1. I want to control it from my iPhone 6s.

1. What prevents the R42 from using the CT-V1 while the R52 is compatible?

2. Are there any other Canon solutions that specifically can be controlled by an iPhone?

3. Does anyone use another solution for pan and tilt?

Your VIXIA HF R42 will work with the CT-V1 Pan Cradle, once you've updated your camcorder's firmware. You may access the firmware for your camcorder by clicking here.
