Just to add a couple of points:

When you say "file is in root directory of SD card" -- the file in question is the "xxx.FIR" file. Not the ZIP or DMG file you downloaded. Right?

Re. "the text is still grayed out" -- as I recall (I'm not going through this process now) the OK button is greyed out until you move the selection to it using the wheel / joystick. This is a rather confusing bit of UI design, as it can seem like it's not ready, but move the selection over the text and it will light up, and you can select it.

Hope this helps..

EOS R5 C Unable to update to firmware 1.1.1.1

I have tried all videos and all related threads on here, none of the solutions have worked for me.

I recently got an R5C with firmware 1.1.0.1 trying to update to 1.1.1.1.

NOTHING HAS WORKED. The steps I have taken so far:

Battery at full charge (LP-E6NH), Reformatted SD to the camera, removed CF card, Removed lens, file is in root directory of SD card. I've tried it all and the text is still grayed out.

Please help!

Greetings,

Wow. That's some original stock you got there. That's the (shipping) firmware mine came with back in 2022.

Sounds like you're doing everything correctly. You are aware that you have to upgrade firmware on this device in Cinema OS. You cannot do it in photo mode. To navigate, you will use the quick control dial to move the cursor and select OK then press set. The firmware upgrade will take approximately 9 minutes. Do not touch any of the buttons during the upgrade process. You will be notified when it completes.

If you are still experiencing difficulties. Reply and we will dig into this deeper.
