Macbook Air doesn’t recognize XA60 camcorder

I tried connecting my XA60B camcorder to macbook air(M1 chip) via both HDMI port and type C. I want to transfer media files to macbook. Neither of them worked. Please assist me on this.

A card reader would be best.

According to the manual, the card reader is the only way to transfer files. USB-C is only used for streaming.
