topic Canon XF Utility not able to see files copied to PC unless Index.MIF is in folder. in Professional Video

I copied the media off my memory card to my PC to folders based on a structure I use sorting clips by date. I wanted to view the metadata for the clips so I opened the Canon XF Utility. I browsed to the folders where I copied the files but the tool is unable to see the content.

The Canon XF Utility can only see files in fodlers if the Index.MIF is present. Is expected behavior?

How can I view the metadata for my files? Specifically information like whether it was recorded with Long GOP or ALL I, as well as the camera details (focal length, shutter angle/speed, etc...)
