Canon XA11 automatically shuts off

Hello, i have a problem with my canon XA11, im using it for live streaming and it shout off automatically, and start again then off. What should i do to resolve this problem.

Greetings,

How are you powering the device?

If you are using a battery, are you sure its of known good quality and health?

Does the camera function when its not connected to something?

What connection are you using for streaming. 3.5mm to AV or HDMI?

What are you connecting it to? Windows, MAC, Capture Device? Please explain.

Yes the camera is functioning, but after i on. Hmm 2 mins auto off. Thats my problem because i have no back up camera..

Im using HDMI, connect to windows, via video capture card.

Did you figure out what was going on? I'm experiencing the same issue on my livestreams and I'm powering the XA11 from the wall.

Same issue just started this week, we use the camera to stream church services, including funerals etc, just randomaly started shutting down, and starting up again, so there is about 30 seconds of black screen when this happens

I am having the same problem. When live streaming camera will randomly go through a power cycle any help would be appreciated.

Greetings Ashaffer,

Let's proceed with resetting the camera in the System Setup portion of the camcorder's menu to see if this helps resolve the issue where the camcorder is powering off and back on again. I would suggest testing a different memory card as well, and a different HDMI cable. Please test to see if the camcorder powers off and back on when not connecting the camera to an external device through the HDMI cable.

This just started happening to my team 2 and i have 2 cameras. I am not using a memory card. I am sending direct video via hdmi cable, which i have changed. Its funny because they have worked for a couple of years without issue. I have never seen firmware updates related to this camera and wondered if something changed. Any assistance is appreciated. Has anybody found a solution.

Hi guys, Could you resolve this issue with the XA11? I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. We record and stream at the same time for about an hour every Sunday. A few minutes in - it says “task in progress”. Recording stops and stream doesn’t stop but goes black. This loses about 10seconds of footage on tge recording and stream. This happens about 4-6 times every week through out the recording/streaming which is so frustrating. We reset everything. Changed the memory card. We also tried different streaming platforms. It’s all the same. Still the same issue. The problem is with the camera. Please help?

Our church has an AX11 purchased at the end of 2019. We use it on a tripod strictly for livestreaming. The last 6 months it has started randomly shutting down and then coming right back on immediately. It does this 3-6 times in a 90 minute broadcast. Has no one discovered the issue yet? Canon want $400+ for repairs.

My XA11 randomly reboots. Here the Readers Digest of this camera's repair history. Contacted a repair shop I've used in the past, in Glendale. They replaced a circuit card, sent it back to me, failed, send it back to them and they changed a different circuit card, sent it bank to me, FAILED. All of this took almost a year, but I have several XA11 cameras. I read all the forums and tried different power sources (batteries & 110 v), swapped memory cards, then thought what else is there?? When I send it to the repair shop, I send only the camera, no memory, no power supply, no XLR handle. Wait a minute, I removed the handle and it works. Swapped XLR handle with another XA11, and life is good. I'm betting it’s the XA11 XLR handle. I just recorded two 15-hour videos with NO reboots. I'm still don't trust it 100% but feeling better about using it... and keeping an eye on the record light.

This came back up so i will tell you what i had to do. I had to take it in for repairs. I was charged almost $400 for wire runs and output expansion. To this day, i never got a full explanation of what that meant. All i got is that they re-wired the camera. Sill wondering what was done.

Mine did this for several months then was fine for almost a year, then started again. I purchased an aftermarket power supply and it has been fine since (3 months and counting). Not sure if it is the PS or just the connector to the Camera.... I'll keep everyone updated if it starts again.

I also removed the handle a couple weeks before the new PS, it still turned off after the handle was removed.

Ive upgraded my camers at XA60 4K. My unrelyable XA11 will remain on a shelf. If / when I ever used it, it'll be where I can keep an eye on it, but I think it'll be collecting a dust. I did did a lot of good years out of it, perhaps I'll put it in an electronics recycle bin.
